Two men charged for having boys work with asbestos sheets 07.07.2026

Two men, aged 26 and 27, have been charged with human exploitation of four boys in connection with the demolition of asbestos-containing roof sheets on a rural property in Sønderborg Municipality. The prosecution at the South and South Jutland Police believes that the men exploited the boys' lack of understanding or dependency to make them work under clearly unreasonable conditions. The boys, who are between 14 and 15 years old and described as vulnerable children, worked without the necessary personal protective equipment, which has also led to charges for violations of occupational health and safety regulations. The case was reported by the Danish Working Environment Authority in October 2024 following an inspection, during which 14 immediate injunctions were issued. Following a complex investigation in collaboration with the Mid- and West Zealand Police, the case will now be heard in the Sønderborg Court.
