Ukraine-Krieg: Geflüchtete aus Odessa engagiert sich in Potsdam 02.03.2026

Angela Rota, a Ukrainian refugee from Odessa, has been cooking traditional Ukrainian dishes like Borschtsch weekly at the Rechenzentrum in Potsdam since March 2022. This initiative, the "Kosmoskantine," provides meals on a donation basis, with proceeds supporting Ukraine aid, and serves as a vital community hub for fellow Ukrainian refugees. Rota fled with her children to Germany four years ago, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, after her home in Odessa was severely damaged and many friends perished. The project, facilitated by Rechenzentrum director Anja Engel, helps Rota express gratitude to Germany and cope with her experiences. Approximately 1.3 million Ukrainians arrived in Germany by the end of 2025, according to the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
