The Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) announced on Sunday, February 15th, the arrest of former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko as he attempted to leave the country. Halushchenko, who resigned in November 2025 following a major corruption scandal dubbed "Midas," is accused of participating in a bribery scheme estimated at $100 million. This scheme allegedly diverted funds within Ukraine's energy sector, causing public outrage amidst widespread power outages attributed to Russian attacks. The NABU suspects an ally of President Volodymyr Zelensky was behind the network, which involved a system of kickbacks.
