Ukraine's Defence Intelligence (DIU) has confirmed that its operators, in a joint deep-strike operation with Ukraine's defence forces, struck the Novatek-Ust-Luga oil refinery and port in Russia's Leningrad Oblast on the morning of 1 September. The attack hit key components of the oil processing unit and technological equipment, triggering a large-scale fire at the plant. The Novatek-Ust-Luga complex is designed for fractionation and processing of stable gas condensate, with a capacity of nearly 8 million tonnes of feedstock per year. DIU noted that the facility is involved in supporting Russia's war against Ukraine.
