Ukrainian refugee group holds cultural festival 15h ago

The third annual Ukrainian Cultural Festival is set to take place at Keighley's Airedale Shopping Centre on Saturday afternoon, organized by a Ukrainian refugee group who have praised the local community's kindness. Four years after Russia's full-scale invasion, the festival aims to build community bridges and celebrate Ukrainian culture through live music, traditional food like varenyky, a market, and craft workshops, including petrykivka and pysanky painting. Organizer Olga Zhydetska, who arrived in Keighley as a refugee four years ago, highlighted the area's historical connection to Ukrainian refugees post-World War Two and emphasized the importance of sharing their culture to foster understanding and reveal commonalities. All proceeds from the event will be directed towards supporting Ukraine and those impacted by the ongoing conflict.
