Ultra-fast charging stations: Chinese technology promises 7-minute vehicle charging in Tunisia 03.07.2026

In Tunisia, electric mobility is undergoing significant expansion, driven by legislative measures such as customs exemptions on electric and hybrid vehicles since 2024, leading to price reductions of approximately 30%. Nafâa Baccari, Director General of ANME, reports that more than 1,000 electric vehicles were acquired in early 2024, surpassing figures from previous years, thanks to the competitive cost of use, which is less than one-third that of internal combustion engine vehicles. ANME is developing a national network of charging stations, with technical specifications currently being finalized for their installation in service stations, alongside a digital platform to facilitate their location and consultation. Chinese technological innovations promise ultra-fast charging in approximately 7 minutes, considerably reducing waiting times. Tax incentives, including reductions in customs duties and VAT on charging equipment, aim to attract investors.
