Umfrage zu EU-Produktionspflicht70 Prozent wollen "Made in Europe" zur Pflicht machen 24.02.2026

A representative survey conducted by Civey on February 9-10, 2026, reveals that 70 percent of Germans support a mandatory "Made in Europe" production requirement for companies selling on the European market or receiving public funds. The poll, commissioned by IG Metall, found that 90 percent of respondents believe state subsidies should be contingent on securing European jobs, and 83 percent agree that public contracts should only go to firms guaranteeing employment in Europe. The European Commission is developing an "Industrial Accelerator Act" that could mandate minimum European production shares for strategic sectors like batteries, solar, and electric vehicles, with specific proposals for electric cars requiring 70 percent of non-battery components to be European. Despite broad public support, political divisions persist within Germany, with Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressing caution and the CDU-led Ministry for Economic Affairs advocating for a less stringent "Made with Europe" approach.
