Umfrageergebnis: Mehrheit nutzt Handy fürs Banking – Jüngere bevorzugen bei zwei Themen die Filiale 21.02.2026

A recent representative survey commissioned by Postbank and reported by WELT AM SONNTAG reveals a significant shift in how people in Germany conduct their financial affairs. For the first time, more individuals, 39 percent, now prefer using banking apps on their smartphones for managing accounts, surpassing the 33 percent who opt for traditional online banking portals on computers or tablets. This trend is particularly pronounced among the 18- to 39-year-old demographic, where 46 percent primarily use apps. Despite the widespread adoption of digital banking, driven by convenience and security, a notable segment of the population, approximately one-fifth, still conducts transactions in physical branches, and younger customers surprisingly seek in-person advice for complex financial matters like loan applications and investments.
