Un contrat "historique", un potentiel "encore inexploité" : la France espère tirer profit de son partenariat sans "limites" avec l'Inde 18.02.2026

French President Emmanuel Macron is on a three-day official visit to India, aiming to strengthen the "trust partnership" between the two nations, particularly in defense and commerce. Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have emphasized the boundless nature of their bilateral relationship, which extends across various sectors. A significant focus of the visit is a potential "historic" contract for India to purchase 114 Rafale aircraft, a deal reportedly approved by India's Defense Acquisitions Council for 3,250 billion rupees (approximately €30.2 billion). This potential acquisition follows India's earlier approval of 26 Rafale Marine jets for its aircraft carriers and 36 Rafale jets ordered in the 2010s. France seeks to diversify its export markets, with India, a nation of 1.4 billion people, representing a key opportunity, especially as bilateral trade, currently at €15 billion, is seen as having untapped potential. Partnerships in artificial intelligence are also anticipated, with Macron set to address the "AI Impact" summit.
