A gendarme from the Castelnau-Médoc brigade in Gironde was injured on Monday evening after a scooter rider refused to comply with a control attempt. The 18-year-old rider intentionally struck the gendarme with his two-wheeler to evade the check and fled the scene. The injured gendarme's life is not in danger, though the severity of his injuries is still being assessed. The perpetrator surrendered to authorities at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, accompanied by his mother and stepfather, and was placed under custody. Bordeaux's public prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into the incident. Notably, refusals to comply with gendarmes in Gironde have increased by 10% in 2025, reaching 425 incidents.
