Un mois après la mort d'El Hacen Diarra en garde à vue à Paris, des manifestants réclament toujours "justice" 21.02.2026

On February 21, 2026, two to three hundred people gathered in Paris's 18th arrondissement, specifically on Boulevard Barbès, to demand justice and truth for El Hacen Diarra. The 35-year-old Mauritanian national died in police custody on January 14-15, 2026, following an arrest near his worker's housing. Protesters, including collectives and NPA flags, chanted slogans accusing the police of his death. Diarra's cousin, Moussa Diarra, expressed the family's desire for explanations and justice, asserting that police violence led to his death. A judicial investigation has been opened by the Paris prosecutor's office for voluntary violence resulting in death by a person in authority, though police body cameras were reportedly inactive due to battery discharge at the time of the incident.
