Unicef Nigeria is prioritizing child survival and reintegrating out-of-school children in its new five-year country program through 2032, field chief Judith Leveillee told The Independent. This comes as aid cuts from major donors like the US and UK risk reversing years of progress on child mortality and maternal health across the developing world. In Nigeria, roughly one in ten children die before their fifth birthday, and the country accounts for 29% of global maternal deaths.
