The upcoming sixth season of M6's "Les Traîtres" will introduce a new French-created rule called the "cursed traitor," a role assigned to one of the 22 participating celebrities. This individual has 48 hours to identify the three existing traitors, who are unaware of the cursed traitor's existence. If successful, the cursed traitor joins the other three to form a quartet of traitors; failure results in a "curse" for the original traitors. Unlike foreign versions where the secret traitor's identity is hidden from viewers, the audience will know the cursed traitor from the start, following their investigation. The cursed traitor and two regular traitors will be revealed in the first episode, with the third regular traitor disclosed in the third episode. This innovation, developed by Studio 89, aims to increase solidarity among traitors and avoid the perceived limited stakes of the "secret traitor" role in other international adaptations.
