Ungewöhnliche Wärmewelle kommt: Saharaluft treibt Temperaturen auf bis zu 20 Grad 24.02.2026

Germany is experiencing an unusual warm spell in February 2026, with temperatures reaching up to 20 degrees Celsius, typically seen in April. This "spring weather" is driven by a stable southwest air current originating from North Africa, bringing mild air masses and Saharan dust across Central Europe. Meteorologist Dominik Jung and The Weather Channel report that regions like Aachen and Dortmund in the West are expecting highs of 20 degrees, while Berlin could see 16 degrees and Greifswald 13 degrees. This warmth is forecast to last until at least Friday, potentially extending into March. However, the ADAC warns of potential flood risks from snowmelt, and a Märzwinter or cold snaps from the polar vortex in the second week of March remain uncertain possibilities.
