United trials new program to make early morning flights less stressful 05.07.2026

United Airlines has launched a trial program called Twilight Bag Drop to alleviate the stress associated with early morning flights. Initiated at the end of March at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), the service allows passengers on select flights departing before 10 a.m. to check their luggage curbside the night before. This initiative aims to streamline the morning check-in process, allowing travelers to head directly to security. Currently, the program is available at ORD and Guam International Airport, where passengers can drop bags between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. prior to departures before 9:30 a.m. United reports that nearly 1,600 bags have been processed through the trial with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Given this success, the airline is considering expanding the service to other major hubs in the future to improve the overall passenger experience.
