Żurek to file inquiry with ICE regarding Ziobro's stay in the USA 07.07.2026

Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek has announced that he will submit an official inquiry to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to determine the legal basis for Zbigniew Ziobro's stay in the United States. The former Minister of Justice is staying in the USA on a "foreign media member" visa after leaving Hungary, where he lost refugee status. Following a change in government, Hungarian authorities also revoked international protection for Marcin Romanowski, who is suspected of crimes related to the Justice Fund. The prosecution plans to immediately prepare an extradition request for Ziobro, ensuring there are no formal gaps in the documentation for the U.S. federal court. The investigation concerns, among other things, the manipulation of competitions and the unauthorized granting of subsidies. At the same time, Polish authorities are attempting to determine the whereabouts of Romanowski, who, after leaving Budapest, may be hiding in Serbia or Croatia.
