Urlauber-Strände an Adria-Küste könnten für immer verschwinden – Fotos zeigen gewaltiges Ausmaß 21.02.2026

Italy's Adriatic coast is facing a severe crisis as beaches disappear due to erosion, exacerbated by high waves, strong winds, and climate change. Popular tourist destinations like Lido Volano in Ferrara are experiencing dramatic sand loss, with only a few meters of beach remaining in some areas, leading to fears of complete disappearance within years. Experts warn that 70 percent of Italian beaches are at risk, with the low-lying, sandy Romagna coast being particularly vulnerable. Since the 1980s, approximately 300 hectares of land have been lost, and coastlines have receded up to 700 meters in some places over the past 70 years. The tourism industry is concerned, and structural maintenance measures are urgently needed to counteract the erosion and protect infrastructure.
