Urlaubsregionen in Europa überschwemmt: Armee greift ein – Krisendienst warnt Reisende 19.02.2026

Severe weather, including heavy rainfall and avalanche risk, is impacting Western France and parts of Spain as of February 19, 2026. France is experiencing its wettest period since 1959, with four departments under the highest flood warning and twelve under orange alert. The tourist city of Bordeaux anticipates flood levels not seen since 1999, prompting the activation of an emergency plan and the closure of parks and riverbanks. Thousands of households in the Gironde department are without power or mobile service due to widespread flooding, which has also disrupted water supply and closed 71 roads. Three fatalities have been reported, with one person missing. The army is being deployed to assist in the affected regions, and travelers are being warned to exercise caution and follow official guidance.
