L’ambassadeur américain à Bruxelles accuse la Belgique d’antisémitismeà 18h17 17.02.2026

U.S. Ambassador to Belgium Bill White has accused the Belgian government of antisemitism following an investigation into three "mohels" in Antwerp's orthodox Jewish community for allegedly practicing ritual circumcision without being licensed medical professionals. The investigation, which began in May, has seen the seizure of the mohels' equipment. White, appointed ambassador in December, publicly condemned the proceedings as "ridiculous and antisemitic," asserting that these religious figures have been performing the rite for millennia and that the Belgian authorities are targeting them due to their faith, with alleged support from Donald Trump. Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot summoned White on Tuesday, denouncing the accusations as dangerous misinformation that undermines the fight against hate and constitutes a violation of diplomatic norms.
