The U.S. Department of Defense has declassified approximately 162 documents spanning nearly 80 years of alleged UFO and UAP sightings, including reports from NASA astronauts during the Apollo era. Released on May 8, these files originated from agencies like the DOD, FBI, and NASA, and feature accounts of anomalous phenomena, such as unidentified objects observed in Earth orbit during the 1965 Gemini VII mission and "flashes" and "particles of light" seen on the moon during Apollo missions. Despite these intriguing reports, NASA maintains its official stance that while UAP are real, there is no compelling data to suggest alien activity, attributing most sightings to mundane causes like birds or optical illusions. Many of the documents remain classified due to the sensitive military technology used for recording.
