U.S. launches largest-ever effort to denaturalize citizens accused of fraud 08.06.2026

The Trump administration has initiated its largest-ever effort to revoke citizenship from 17 U.S. citizens accused of immigration fraud, as reported by CBS News. This move significantly escalates the denaturalization campaign, a process rarely utilized before the current administration. Federal law permits the denaturalization of foreign-born citizens who committed fraud during their naturalization process, such as by concealing criminal conduct. The targeted individuals include those convicted of violent crimes, including child sex offenses, as well as others accused of immigration fraud, money laundering, and wire fraud. These individuals concealed relevant information on their applications or were otherwise ineligible for citizenship. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated there would be "zero tolerance" for abusing the naturalization process.
