Washington, D.C., is set to host an unprecedented fireworks display on July 4, 2026, as part of the Trump administration's "Freedom 250" project, celebrating the United States' 250th birthday. The event, organized by Pyrotecnico, will launch more than 850,000 fireworks shells across 10 sites near the Lincoln Memorial and Potomac River, starting at 10:30 p.m. local time and lasting 40 minutes. This surpasses the current Guinness World Record set in the Philippines in 2016 by about 40,000 shells and is roughly 50 times larger than Washington's typical annual show. While organizers bill it as an "unforgettable" generational event expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors, the cost has not been disclosed.
