US-Regierung Demonstrative Zuversicht - trotz Zoll-Chaos 23.02.2026

Despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding President Trump's tariffs, US government representatives expressed unwavering confidence in their trade policies. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated on Fox News that a 15 percent worldwide tariff on imports will take effect on Tuesday, providing the administration 150 days to establish a legally sound basis for these duties, contingent on evidence of unfair trade practices or threats to national security. Bessent asserted that tariff revenues will remain unchanged, both currently and in the future, and while acknowledging potential congressional involvement, he emphasized the President's ability to implement tariffs without explicit congressional approval under specific circumstances. Trade expert Kimberly Clausing, however, believes Congress would reject the tariffs due to their unpopularity and upcoming elections, with 60 percent of the public also opposing the policy, which Trump reportedly needs for planned tax cuts. The fate of $175 billion in previously collected tariffs remains undecided, pending court rulings, as numerous companies and states plan to seek refunds.
