Following the devastating earthquakes that occurred on June 24, 2026, in Venezuela, the United States Southern Command has deployed the Contingency Response Element (CRE) of the Air Force's 621st Contingency Response Wing. A contingent of 110 U.S. aviators is currently stationed at Simón Bolívar International Airport to streamline the reception and distribution of humanitarian supplies. These operations, led globally by the Department of State, seek to optimize aerial logistics and expand aid reception capacity for the most affected regions. The deployment's primary objective is to reduce response times and ensure that assistance reaches vulnerable communities and rescue teams smoothly, working jointly with local personnel and U.S. interagency teams.
