Update USA hatten Millionen-Kopfgeld ausgesetzt: Mächtigster mexikanischer Drogenboss „El Mencho“ getötet 22.02.2026

Mexican security forces have killed Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho," the leader of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The 59-year-old former police officer, who founded the cartel in 2011, died during a military operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco, after being severely injured and while being transported to Mexico City. The operation also resulted in the arrest of two cartel members and injuries to three soldiers. The United States had offered a $15 million bounty for El Mencho, whom Deputy US Secretary of State Christopher Landau described as one of the "bloodiest and most ruthless drug lords." In response to his death, suspected cartel members initiated widespread violence across several Mexican states, blocking roads with burning vehicles and setting fires.
