Ushakov criticizes Armenia’s foreign policy course 07.05.2026

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov criticized Armenia's current foreign policy, describing it as an attempt to "sit on two chairs" and expressing concern over potential damage to bilateral relations with Russia. Ushakov made these remarks in response to questions about Yerevan's recent hosting of the European Political Community summit and the signing of a strategic partnership declaration with the United Kingdom. He acknowledged that economic cooperation between Russia and Armenia remains positive, particularly within the Eurasian Economic Union framework, but implied that Armenia's actions could harm their overall relationship, suggesting the relationship benefits Armenia more. Ushakov's comments follow recent talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
