USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino adds baseball to his American adventure 04.07.2026

U.S. men's national soccer team coach Mauricio Pochettino continued his immersion into American culture by throwing out the first pitch at the Seattle Mariners game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, July 3. Pochettino, who has embraced American traditions since taking over as coach, delivered an accurate throw to Mariners manager Dan Wilson at the ballpark located across the street from where the USMNT will play Belgium in a World Cup round-of-16 match on July 6. The team was also honored before the game, with players like Cristian Roldan participating in pre-game ceremonies, and the unofficial USMNT anthem, "Take Me Home, Country Roads," was played. Pochettino has previously expressed admiration for American fast food like Chick-fil-A and has become a notable fan of country music.
