In Limassol, Cyprus, a wedding reception led to a significant food poisoning outbreak, affecting over 70 guests and hospitalizing 21. The state health services organisation (Okypy) confirmed on Thursday that 74 attendees exhibited gastroenteritis symptoms, prompting an investigation initiated by the couple. Initial reports indicated around 50 guests were ill. Investigations are extensive, involving specialized teams interviewing affected individuals, inspecting facilities, and collecting food and water samples for laboratory analysis, with inquiries extended to Paphos due to traveling guests. The reception venue's operation has been suspended pending the cause's determination, with health services awaiting lab results to identify potential contaminants. A second, separate food poisoning incident is also being examined for potential links.
