Van gymzaal naar stemlokaal: "Stond hier net vol kinderen, ringen en een bok" 17.03.2026

With municipal elections approaching, teams are working diligently to set up 406 polling stations across the city, transforming diverse locations like gymnasiums, churches, and community centers into democratic hubs. One such team, led by Jaco, began their day at 7:30 AM, preparing the IKC Rosa Parks gymnasium in Venserpolder. The process involves meticulously arranging voting booths, ballot boxes, and ensuring clear pathways, even adapting to the unique challenges of a sports facility. Logistics manager Amanda Warner highlighted the goal of having a polling station within 500 meters of every resident, noting the addition of school locations to accommodate younger voters aged 16 and 17 participating in city district committee elections. Despite occasional logistical hiccups, such as finding venues unprepared, experienced teams like Tjibbe Meijen's are efficiently constructing polling stations, aiming for a smooth election day.
