In Waalre, a passerby reported suspicious barrels with skull symbols found along the Onze Lieve Vrouwendijk near the Dommel river on Saturday evening. Initially raising concerns, a hazardous materials advisor was called, but it was soon suspected the barrels had a different purpose. Traces indicated the empty barrels, accompanied by a package of cookies and a water jerrycan, were moved from the river to the roadside. Authorities now believe they were likely used by a club or scouting group for building a raft to navigate the Dommel, leading to the cancellation of the hazardous materials response and police withdrawing from the investigation.
