Meanwhile, the Evangelical Church in Germany, presenting its "Seven Weeks Without Hardness" campaign in Göttingen, Lower Saxony, addresses societal issues like xenophobia and online hate, advocating for compassion and mercy as an alternative to prevailing harshness. Both campaigns emphasize spiritual renewal, solidarity with the needy, and a break from routine during the 40 days leading up to Easter, with Misereor collecting donations on March 22nd.
