Verzicht und Besinnung vor Ostern Kirchen in Deutschland starten Fastenaktionen 22.02.2026

Churches in Germany have launched their Lenten campaigns, urging reflection and action ahead of Easter. The Catholic aid organization Misereor, in Hofheim, Hesse, is focusing its "Future Starts Here" campaign on supporting young people in disadvantaged regions worldwide, highlighting the situation in Cameroon where their partner organization Codas-Caritas in Douala aids young adults. Meanwhile, the Evangelical Church in Germany, presenting its "Seven Weeks Without Hardness" campaign in Göttingen, Lower Saxony, addresses societal issues like xenophobia and online hate, advocating for compassion and mercy as an alternative to prevailing harshness. Both campaigns emphasize spiritual renewal, solidarity with the needy, and a break from routine during the 40 days leading up to Easter, with Misereor collecting donations on March 22nd.
