Daugavpili vērienīgi satricinusi kolektīvā atlaišana, kas ietekmē gandrīz 300 cilvēkus divos nozīmīgiem uzņēmumos. Pilsētas mērs Andrejs Elksniņš šo notikumus nosaucis par traģēdiju, norādot uz transporta nozares lejupslīdes un ārvalstu investoru piesardzību. Valsts uzņēmums "LDZ Cargo" plāno no 1. augusta samazināt darbinieku skaitu par vairāk nekā 150 cilvēkiem ģeopolitiskās situācijas un kravu apjoma samazināšanās dēļ. Vienlaikus starptautiskais uzņēmums "Concentrix" 1. oktobrī slēgs savu filiāli, darbu zaudēs vairāk nekā 100 darbinieku. Ekonomists Mārtiņš Āboliņš uzsver, ka problēma ir vēl dziļāka, jo zaudētas darba vietas eksportējošās nozarēs, kas raksturīgi pilsētai, kas smagi cietusi tranzīta apjomu samazināšanās dēļ. Maijā bezdarba līmenis pilsētā sasniedza sešus procentus, un situāciju varētu vēl vairāk pasūpot Grīvas cietuma slēgšanas paredzētā reorganizācija gada nogalē.
