Video: Police head back to rivers for alcohol checks 05.07.2026

As part of its summer activities, the Police of the Czech Republic has once again launched intensive alcohol checks on rivers and reservoirs across the country. The aim of these preventive measures is to increase water safety and reduce the number of accidents caused by drinking. The checks cover various types of navigation; for some helmsmen, a level of up to 0.5 per mille may be permissible, while in other cases, a strict zero tolerance applies. Operators face high financial penalties for offenses in this area, which can reach up to one hundred thousand crowns. However, according to official police data, the number of such offenses on the water has significantly decreased recently. This preventive campaign will continue throughout the summer to ensure the protection of all water users during the summer holidays.
