Vietnam National University, Hanoi must rise as symbol of Vietnamese intellect: Top leader 16.05.2026

Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm addressed Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) on its 120th anniversary, urging it to become a symbol of Vietnamese intellect and a leading academic pillar in a new era demanding rapid, sustainable development. He emphasized VNU's crucial role in knowledge, science, technology, innovation, and human capital quality, calling for it to be an elite, multidisciplinary university operating under an innovation-driven model. Lâm endorsed VNU's goals of ranking among the top 100 Asian universities by 2030 and top 300 globally by 2035, with priority disciplines in the world's top 100. He stressed the need for modern educational philosophy, advanced governance, an open academic environment, and the completion of the Hòa Lạc university urban area. VNU is expected to pioneer new educational and technological models, connect knowledge with development through strong linkages, and serve as a representative of Vietnamese intellect internationally. The university received the First-Class Labour Order for its contributions.
