VN’s overseas investment more than double in first four months of 2026 07.05.2026

Vietnamese companies significantly expanded their overseas investments in the first four months of 2026, with total outbound investment reaching nearly $714 million, a more than twofold increase compared to the same period in the previous year. This surge was primarily driven by 74 new projects, which accounted for $691.1 million and represented a 2.6-fold rise. Power generation and distribution emerged as the leading sector for this foreign investment, attracting $164 million, followed by construction and transportation/warehousing. Vietnamese firms directed capital to 32 countries, with Laos being the top recipient at $198 million, followed by Kyrgyzstan and the British Virgin Islands.
