„Vollmundige Versprechen“: Auch private Bahnbetreiber kritisieren Verzögerung der Generalsanierung scharf 18.02.2026

Private railway operators, represented by the association Mofair, are sharply criticizing the German railway company DB InfraGo regarding the ongoing corridor renovations, particularly the Hamburg-Berlin line. Mofair claims that none of the initial promises have been kept, citing issues such as unreinforced bridges, fewer planned transfer points, and the non-installation of the ETCS train control system. The association warns that the promise of at least five years without new construction sites after renovation is being undermined, leading to probable further full closures and escalating costs. The delay of the Hamburg-Berlin project, initially costing €2.2 billion and now extended beyond April 30 due to frost, has also drawn criticism from five northern German states who were surprised by the extension and demand the railway company cover all additional costs.
