Voor tweede keer in korte tijd vreemdelingen aangetroffen op veerboot 23.02.2026

On Saturday evening, Dutch border police discovered individuals of Vietnamese nationality in Hoek van Holland, leading to the arrest of two British men, aged 38 and 46, on suspicion of human smuggling. This incident marks the second time in a short period that undocumented individuals have been found at the port; a previous discovery on February 14th involved six minors in a refrigerated truck. Despite these recent interceptions, official figures indicate a general decrease in stowaways attempting to travel this way across all Dutch ports, with numbers dropping from hundreds to dozens annually. Experts suggest the Netherlands primarily serves as a transit country for those heading to the UK, with routes often favoring Belgium and France due to easier access to sea travel.
