Vorfall in der Nordsee Gestrandete Pottwale vor dänischer Insel sind tot 22.02.2026

Six sperm whales that recently stranded off the Danish island of Fanø have died. The remains of these young male whales will be sent to the University of Copenhagen for further analysis. The first four whales were discovered on Friday between Fanø and the Skallingen peninsula, with two more appearing on Saturday. Authorities had initially advised residents to stay away to avoid hindering potential rescue efforts, though at least one whale was alive initially. This incident marks the third sperm whale stranding on Denmark's coast this year, following similar events in North Jutland and near Esbjerg. Sperm whale strandings are rare, with the last recorded instance in Denmark occurring a decade ago.
