The Paide city government has purchased the property located at Tallinna 20, adjacent to a courtroom, for the erection of a War of Independence monument. The previously considered location at Keskväljak (Central Square) was abandoned due to redevelopment plans for the square, which the authors of the design did not take into account. The new location was historically a German military cemetery, but according to negotiations with the National Heritage Board, there should no longer be any human remains there. The city government plans to establish a modern memorial, a parking lot, and a small park on the property. A competition will be organized for the construction of the monument, and 50,000 euros has been allocated for this purpose in next year's city budget.
