‘We don’t rent to you people’: Marriott in Ohio turned away Black guest for being local, lawsuit says 1d ago

LeRon Turner, a Black youth football coach and long-haul trucker, has filed a federal lawsuit against a TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Beavercreek, Ohio, alleging racial discrimination. On Super Bowl Sunday 2026, with his home furnace out and temperatures below freezing, Turner booked a four-day stay for his family. Upon returning from picking up food, the hotel manager allegedly canceled his reservation, stating that "you people" were problem guests who engaged in drug use and drinking. Turner claims he was denied lodging solely because of his race, forcing him to find a less comfortable and more expensive room elsewhere. The lawsuit seeks a declaration that Marriott's policy violates federal and state law, an injunction against such practices, mandatory civil rights training, and damages.
