In Iran, the judiciary has imposed a death sentence on a father and 25 years imprisonment on his daughter in connection with recent protests. A Revolutionary Court in Tehran, presided over by Abolghassem Salawati, known as the "Judge of Death," handed down the sentences for "waging war against God" after the pair were arrested in early January following the killing of an officer on the outskirts of the capital. The defense has appealed the verdict to the Supreme Court, but their request was reportedly denied. Human rights organization Amnesty International indicates that at least 30 individuals face potential execution due to the uprisings against the authoritarian regime.
