Wegen Schneechaos in München: 500 Passagiere saßen nachts in Flugzeugen fest 22.02.2026

Approximately 500 passengers experienced an involuntary overnight stay in aircraft at Munich Airport on Thursday night due to severe snowfall. Their flights, scheduled for Thursday evening, were canceled after passengers had boarded and planes were ready for departure. The Munich Airport stated that passengers could not return to the terminal because of a lack of buses and available parking spaces. This resulted in passengers and crew being confined to the planes on the tarmac. The snowfall caused significant disruptions throughout Thursday, leading to 100 flight cancellations. Despite some flights receiving special permission to depart after 1:00 AM, those already prepared were denied takeoff clearance. Passengers were eventually disembarked by buses early Friday morning.
