A journalist successfully applied for and received a temporary caravan parking permit for Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq on Malta's coast without ever owning a caravan. Using his electronic ID, he logged into the local permits portal, selected the Naxxar Local Council, and filled in a simple form. He claimed the caravan was 22 feet long, slept four, had a kitchen, and that he was over 60 years old—despite being in his early 20s—reducing the fee from €15 to just €1. He uploaded a photo from Facebook Marketplace and marked a random spot on a map. Minutes later, he received permit NXR-2026-55180, valid for 24 hours starting 30 June, complete with the council's letterhead and a line for the executive secretary's signature.
