Wie een ontwerpidee voor Slavernijmuseum heeft, kan zich vanaf vandaag aanmelden 12.02.2026

Architects and landscape designers with a connection to the Dutch slavery past are invited to submit proposals for the National Slavery Museum, set to be built on Java Island. The municipality is seeking designs for a 9,000-square-meter museum and an adjacent 25,000-square-meter park that will honor historical significance, the location's meaning, and the museum's role as a public meeting space. Submissions will be evaluated on their ability to incorporate diverse perspectives, representation, and inclusivity. The selection process will involve an 11-member jury, and input from 40 previous community meetings held in the Netherlands, Suriname, and the Caribbean will be considered. The goal is to create a design that is broadly supported and reflects the input of various communities.
