Win for golfers as final Moore Park plans are revealed 07.05.2026

The NSW government has revealed its final plans for Moore Park in Sydney's east, which will retain a 12-hole golf course instead of the original 18-hole layout. This decision follows significant opposition from golfers and stakeholders who advocated for the preservation of the full course. The government's $50 million-plus plan will carve up the existing fairways to create a 20-hectare civic park to accommodate the area's growing population. While the revised plan includes a reconfigured 12-hole course designed by golf architect Harley Kruse, the deputy president of Moore Park Golf Club expressed disappointment that alternative proposals preserving the 18-hole course were not considered. Construction is slated to begin in July, with the parkland and its amenities expected to be largely completed by 2028.
