Winter-Drama in Italien: Touristen aus Alpen-Ort evakuiert – Straßen gesperrt, Hotel geräumt 17.02.2026

In the Italian Alps, the mountain village of Rochemolles, a part of Bardonecchia in Piedmont, has been evacuated due to severe snowfall and a high avalanche risk. On Sunday evening, February 15th, Mayor Chiara Rossetti issued an emergency order for the immediate evacuation of 40 people, including 10 residents and 30 foreign tourists from the Residence "Lo Chalet della Guida." Access roads to the hamlet were closed to vehicles and pedestrians following a warning from the local avalanche commission, based on reports from weather services ARPA and AINEVA. While residents found alternative accommodation, the municipality organized an emergency plan for the hotel guests, establishing a collection point for their relocation to other hotels and guesthouses. The situation is being compared to 2018 when an avalanche blocked the provincial road, with experts noting similarities in conditions, particularly in the Gran Vallone area, which is expected to remain at high risk for at least 36 hours due to ongoing heavy snowfall.
