Wirbel um Schwarzer-Aussage: AfD-Chefin als Kanzlerin wäre „ermutigend“ für Frauen 19.02.2026

In a recent Spiegel interview, feminist and publicist Alice Schwarzer shared her views on prominent German female politicians. While acknowledging Angela Merkel's unintentional impact on the women's movement, Schwarzer criticized Annalena Baerbock's feminist foreign policy as a failure, particularly regarding her perceived abandonment of women in Iran and Afghanistan. Schwarzer found Heidi Reichinnek of Die Linke to be a valuable addition to feminism, describing her as a "new color" and a "wild, punk, cheeky younger woman." Regarding AfD leader Alice Weidel, Schwarzer cautiously suggested that her becoming Chancellor, following Merkel, could still be "encouraging for women," though she also warned against the rise of the AfD. Schwarzer stated that Sahra Wagenknecht was not a disappointment in terms of feminism, as she had no expectations, and that one could be a capable woman without being a feminist.
