Vice-chancellor Prof Zeblon Vilakazi attributed this achievement to the university's dedication to academic excellence, research, and innovation, noting its strong performance in faculty excellence (ranking 87th globally) and graduate employability (ranking 97th globally). The CWUR ranking system is considered objective, utilizing 81-million data points and focusing on measurable data in education, research, faculty, and graduate employability, unlike survey-reliant rankings. This recognition underscores Wits' global competitiveness and its role in advancing knowledge and development on the continent.
