A case is being heard in Lutsk against a 38-year-old woman accused of selling her 6-year-old son for 25,000 US dollars. The mother, who has a prior criminal record for theft, decided to get rid of the child to avoid caring for him. The agreement for the 'deal' was reached in March 2026, and the sale itself took place on April 17, 2026, in Lutsk. The woman was detained by law enforcement immediately after receiving the funds. She is charged with human trafficking of a minor, which is a crime under Part 3 of Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The accused is currently in custody.
