The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is making a significant scheduling change for its 2027 season, starting on February 11 to work around the Women's World Cup in Brazil. Commissioner Jessica Berman announced the plan during a midseason State of the League address, noting the season will begin during Super Bowl weekend with support from broadcast partner ESPN. The annual Challenge Cup will be played on February 6, and the league will pause from June 24 to July 25 during the World Cup, when many players will be on national teams. The playoffs start November 5, with the championship on November 20.
